Light on the Hilltop

From the Brides...

Since we met in Madison, we wanted to get married nearby. A friend who has worked for the caterer we ended up using had told us that Hilltop, in Spring Green, WI, was the site of one of the most beautiful weddings she'd ever attended, so we went to take a look. Once we'd seen it, it was hard to imagine getting married anywhere else. Spring Green is part of the Driftless area of Wisconsin. The region was never glaciated so it's characterized by rolling hills and streams, defined by the Wisconsin River. It also was the location of Frank Lloyd Wright's home and studio, so there is beautiful architecture. Since Chloe was born in Oak Park, the site of his other home and studio, it seemed like a perfect fit.

From the Photographer...

The names Chloe & Vanessa just sound like they are meant to be together! The two began their day with gifts to each other. Unbeknownst to them, they both got each other special key chains. Obviously they were meant to be! Everything about their day just flowed right along with the summer breeze that was just enough to keep the perfect temperature. Even when an impromptu thunderstorm hit, everyone kept their cool.
Chloe and Vanessa were married at Hilltop under a 125 year old Catalpa tree covered in moss and full of mystery.
Poetry was read through out their ceremony by George Eliot and Rilke, Ross Gay and Naomi Shihab Nye and friends provided a musical interlude.
At the end of the day, everyone grabbed a sparkler and headed down the hill for dancing and merriment!
