Style Shoots are huge in the current wedding industry, see what goes into planning one of these shoots! Us wedding creatives use style shoots to introduce new ideas and reveal in our creativity!
Here at Destination Wisconsin Wedding we are know for our well put together style shoots, here are the 5 steps we use to plan our shoots.
The first step to putting together a style shoot is coming up with the concept. Typically our concepts come from the newest trends in the wedding industry. However, we also receive themes from our preferred vendors for style shoots; for instance this style shoot was brought to us from Jamie Gellings Media. Jamie wanted a style shoot that focused on an edgy hipster look at the Iron Horse Hotel. We were sold on the idea!
Now design is the fun part! We hand select each participating vendor based on their style. A mood board is also crafted to ensure all of the vendors are on the same page. Another component that is very important to us is to give the vendors a bit of free range as far as their creations and developing their items. We have chosen them as our vendors and we trust what they bring to the table.
3. Gathering All of the Necessities
For our tablescapes we typically take it upon ourselves to design and supply these items. Some of my favorites spots on World Market, TJ Maxx or my own cabinets!
Between chargers, cups, dinnerware, glassware, etc. we can have a field day getting our hands into everything!
4. Dial in Your Statement Piece
As you can probably pick out each of our style shoots come with a statement piece. Whether it be a large black horse, tropical frog, or a brand new Harley motorcycle. We find it very important to incorporate each shoot with a surprise to make it unique and dreamy. For this particular style shoot Milwaukee Harley Davidson brought over 2 brand new bikes for us to use as our ceremony backdrop - and let me tell you, they drew a crowd!
5. Game Time
Now it’s the day of the shoot! First and foremost we always start the shoot day off with a Starbucks, of course! Depending on the venue we typically arrive a bit earlier than the other vendors if we are able to. The morning is then filled with arranging the tables cape, accepting deliveries (cake, etc.). A few hours before the video and photography is set to begin we have the beauty artist and models arrive for hair and makeup, this allows the artist to not be rushed.
Some of the key points throughout the day are to let the vendors do what they do best. We are there to make sure everything is running smoothly and our key shots and gotten, other than that I let the vendors go crazy and release their creativity.
Thank you to all of the vendors who helped in this shoot
