Lake Resort Wedding

Colleen and Nick met their sophomore year in high school in French class. During that time the class took a trip to France where a friendship began to blossom. About a year later, after becoming really good friends, Colleen and Nick began dating. Flash forward ten years later, almost to the date, and Colleen and Nick have spent what I'm sure it seems is a lifetime together.

Throughout the wedding process I was able to get to know the couple a little better. And, what I noticed most about them, is they love to laugh. During their engagement session we walked around Lincoln Park like we were old friends hanging out.

Cocktail hour was held outdoors in the secluded garden area (the same location the couple did their first look). In the evening sun guests mingled, munched on yummy horderves and washed it down with their choice of cocktail. While Amy captured all the celebration there, Colleen and Nick did a few more quick portraits with me taking advantage of the beautiful lake views. Along the way resort guests cheered and congratulated the happy couple! As dinner completed, the newlyweds snuck outside for a few night time portraits under the twinkle lights before having their first dance as husband and wife. Next came the father daughter dance with a sweet surprise for Scott. After a traditional song was played (if memory serves me right I believe it was My Little Girl by Tim McGraw) a special song for Scott was played. Colleen will have to fill you in on the name of that one!

After a rowdy "Wobble" dance the bouquet and garter were tossed and I headed home while I left the couple with their closest family and friends to continue celebrate an amazing love story!

The wedding itself was absolutely beautiful. It was a warmer summer day with the sun blazing above us. I'm sure I was not the only one that wanted to jump in the lake or pool! My team and I arrived a little early to scout out the area and say hello to the couple before unloading and setting up. After detail shots were taken and everyone was dressed in their wedding best we headed out to the garden pergola for the bride and groom's first look. It was an emotional, sweet moment, ten years in the making and I'm sure worth the wait.
